Dr. Matthew L. Schwartz, DSW, LCSW, MBA, CFSW is a clinical social worker and researcher based in Buffalo, NY and Rehovot, Israel. He specializes in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, forensic, and financial social work.
Matthew’s career spans linguistics, military service, business, and social work. After studying sociolinguistics and Hebrew, he served in the Israel Defense Forces, specializing in foreign relations and information securtity. He later earned an MBA, worked in business, and was a Visiting Scholar at NYU’s Environmental Health Clinic before transitioning to social work. He earned his MSW and Doctor of Social Work (DSW) from the University at Buffalo, where his doctoral research focused on implementation science, technology, and data visualization to bridge the research-to-practice gap.
Matthew maintains a private practice in Buffalo and Rehovot, and serves as Director of Research for the Center for Financial Social Work. He is a past board member of the Solution Focused Brief Therapy Association, previously chairing its Conference Planning Committee and serving on its DEIB and Technology Committees.
Outside of work, he enjoys bebopjazz, espresso, and the company of his cat.
